The bond between ikran and rider is cherished among the Omatikaya, and such was the bond between Neytiri and her first ikran, Seze (Na’vi: blue flower). Neytiri flew with Seze from the passing of her iknimaya trials to the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, finding joy and freedom in the air. Together, Seze and Neytiri grew to become expert aerial hunters, even able to safely evade a stalking toruk. Neytiri passed the technical skills learned in flight with Seze to Jake during his own ikran training. Seze was lost during the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, and Neytiri mourned her death for some time following the conflict, as is proper among the Na’vi. She still wears warpaint inspired by Seze’s coloration to battle.
