Nomadic clans are not uncommon on Pandora, however none range as far or wide as the Tlalim Clan. Known colloquially as the Wind Traders, the Tlalim journey around Pandora via a fleet of elegant gondolas. These expertly crafted ships are carried by giant, jellyfish-like medusoids, which are passive, hydrogen-filled creatures capable of lifting and carrying extremely heavy loads. In addition, the Wind Traders have developed a symbiotic relationship with the windray, caring for the creature’s needs in exchange for their flying power, which provides the forward propulsion for the Wind Trader fleet by tugging the gondolas forward along their path.

The Wind Traders typically circle Pandora twice a year on their journey. They are highly social, with a rich culture of their own that, much like their unique clothing, weaves bits and pieces from the many clans of Pandora together like a beautiful, vibrant tapestry. The Wind Trader fleet carries goods and stories from the clans, and the Tlalim trade in both material and information as they travel- establishing a market at each destination they visit. They barter fairly, under the premise that everyone benefits from the shared exchange. Often, they will accept food or other supplies that are difficult to attain while traveling in exchange for rare or out of season goods.

The Tlalim are even allowed access to sacred sites like the Tree of Souls or submerged Spirit Tree, so that they can freely make the connection to Eywa that is essential to Na’vi culture. On their journey they encounter many clans, and through this have gained a broad perspective on life in comparison to their fellow Na’vi. This perspective encourages a culture of awareness, acceptance and inclusivity- a mutual respect for the other clans of Pandora.
