When So’lek encountered the Tipani Clan and sought their knowledge of the Cuirass Crab as a step along the Path of the Promiser, Rimu volunteered to teach him the ways of her clan. Initially, Rimu offered to simply retrieve the required materials for So’lek so that he could continue on his journey. However, when given the choice, So’lek opted to remain with the Tipani and learn their customs.

Through Rimu’s tutoring, So’lek learned the Tipani's way of moving through the forest, using its rhythm and breath to mask his presence. After a year and a half together, Rimu and So’lek formed a strong bond- one that bordered on romantic for So’lek. While laying together in the forest one night, So’lek nearly confessed his feelings for Rimu. Sensing this, she stopped him short, cautioning him that if he still intended to leave her after obtaining the Cuirass Crab shell, he should say nothing more.

Committed to his path, So’lek agreed. Rimu proudly observed So’lek while he gathered the molted Cuirass Crab shell, and then disappeared into the forest without bidding him farewell. Despite searching for her, So’lek would not see her again.
