Ash Weaponry
The Mangkwan’s reputation for violence and brutality is, in no small part, owed to the weapons and tools they have developed. Where traditional Na’vi weaponry is designed for clean, quick violence, the Mangkwan have created tools that can inflict pain and death en masse. Horrible wounds, festering burns and brutally hacked kuru follow in the wake of any Mangkwan attack.

ofMangkwan knives are crafted of jagged obsidian flakes or salvaged RDA metal, in defiance of Eywa’s laws. The obsidian blades come from the outer slopes of the volcano in the Mangkwan’s territory, a common extraction ritual among Mangkwan warriors. These blades are not designed for quick, clean cuts- but rather to inflict the maximum suffering on an opponent. Serrated edges are good for hacking and sawing.
The bows the Mangkwan craft are created from trees intentionally felled. They utilize traditional longbows, as well as X and Y-bow styles which can be fired with increased range and velocity, and carry other functions in Mangkwan culture. Their arrowheads are frequently crafted from stone or metal.
Perhaps the most fanatical practice among the Mangkwan is self-immolation during combat by means of an oil bag and flame. The tanned-hide oil bag is punctured, either via a flensing blade or arrow, dousing the warrior in oil. The oil is then set alight while the warrior sacrifices themself to take down a strategic target. In aerial combat against the Wind Traders, this is a highly-effective method of bringing down a full gondola- by dive bombing and piercing the membrane of the medusoid, igniting the hydrogen gas within.
Other Mangkwan tools include specialized bolas for capturing bipedal opponents and tanning tools, essential for their hidework for tents and tools. The cord for the bolas is woven from Na’vi hair, and the bolas themselves are heavy, resinous seed pods. The full device is thrown at fleeing targets to ensnare and immobilize them.
