Avatar: Fire and Ash is heading from Pandora to the Academy Awards.
The third film in James Cameron’s beloved franchise has earned two Oscar nominations at the 98th Academy Awards, honoring the incredible artists who helped bring the world of Avatar to life. Deborah L. Scott is nominated for Best Costume Design, while Joe Letteri, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon, and Daniel Barrett are nominated for Best Visual Effects.


Avatar: Fire and Ash takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family, as they face off against a deadly new threat.
Earlier this month, Avatar: Fire and Ash surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, becoming the third film in the series to cross $1 billion globally. Avatar stands as one of the most successful film franchises of all time, with a combined global box office exceeding $6 billion.
The original 2009 Avatar received nine Oscar nominations, winning three for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects. 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water also received four Oscar nominations, ultimately winning for Best Visual Effects.
