Welcome back to Pandora.
The new trailer and poster for Avatar: Fire and Ash have arrived, teasing a breathtaking new look at the upcoming film (in theatres December 19). The latest chapter in James Cameron’s epic saga continues the story of the Sully family, following Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their children as they fight for the future of Pandora.
Fire and Ash reintroduces Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake and fierce warrior Neytiri, who have established a close-knit family and built a life with the ocean-dwelling Metkayina. But their peace is threatened when they find themselves on a collision course with a deadly new Na’vi clan: the Mangkwan, also known as the Ash People.
The trailer shines a spotlight on the fiery Mangkwan, revealing how volcanic eruptions have laid waste to their formerly tranquil home. All that pain and destruction has isolated them from the other Na’vi and led them to question Eywa, the sacred spiritual entity of Pandora. The Mangkwan are shepherded by their formidable leader Varang (Oona Chaplin), who fights to protect her people and save them from future devastation.
“The fire came from the mountain, burned our forest,” Varang explains in the trailer. “My people cried for help, but Eywa did not come.”
The Sullys’ clash with the Mangkwan leads them across the frontiers of Pandora, and the trailer unveils a new look at some of the world’s stunning creatures and landscapes, stretching from the highest skies to the depths of the sea.

Fire and Ash picks up after the events of 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water, the Oscar-winning global phenomenon that grossed more than $2.3 billion worldwide and won an Academy Award for best achievement in visual effects. Before Fire and Ash hits theatres in December, The Way of Water is being re-released in 3-D on October 3, returning to the big screen for a one-week special engagement.
Avatar: Fire and Ash has a screenplay by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and a story by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno.
