Avatar: The Way of Water will be back in theaters for one week only next month, ahead of the release of the third film in the trilogy, Avatar: Fire and Ash, this December. And today, a new trailer and poster for the upcoming re-release were revealed and made available to download.
The James Cameron directed sequel — originally released in 2022, grossing more than $2.3 billion worldwide, winning an Academy Award® for best achievement in visual effects, — will be re-released in 3D exclusively in theaters for a one-week special engagement worldwide beginning October 3, 2025.
Avatar: The Way of Water reaches new heights and explores undiscovered depths as Cameron takes us back to the world of Pandora in this emotionally packed action-adventure. The story follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and their family more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar. Forced to leave their home, the Sullys traverse new regions of Pandora, explored in the new trailer that arrived today along with fresh poster art for the theatrical re-release.
But trouble follows them, and the Sullys must go to great lengths to keep each other safe, amid the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure. Set against the breathtaking seascapes of Pandora, where we meet new Na’vi cultures and a range of exotic sea creatures, wherever the Sullys go, their family is their fortress.
