Varang’s eye tattoo, located on her right palm, is a component of her “sorcery”- the skills of a tsahìk that she has twisted for her purposes of control and to terrorize other clans. Accounts suggest that during her psychosomatic rituals, Varang uses the tattoo in conjunction with heavy hallucinogens administered by a blowpipe to hypnotize and pacify her victims, drawing and keeping their attention focused as the medicines take hold. The tattoo also forms a motif for Varang, appearing in her necklace.
