As a sign of good will and hopeful collaboration with the Omatikayan Na’vi, Dr. Grace Augustine established a school to teach Na’vi children to speak, read and write English. Among the first students of the school would be the young warrior Tsu’tey, Neytiri and also her older sister, Sylwanin. The young Na’vi were quick learners. While the school was initially a positive and hopeful experience, it was doomed for tragedy.

Hope was replaced by despair when Sylwanin and several other rash young warriors destroyed RDA equipment and fled to the school for refuge. The RDA pursued and gunned down Sylwanin and many more on the steps of the school. Shortly after, the RDA shut down Augustine’s school permanently and tensions with the Na’vi escalated significantly. The school building remains as a grim memorial of the RDA’s growing violence toward the Na’vi in service of their true goals.
