Stingbats (Na’vi: “riti”) are nocturnal aerial predators known for their scorpion-like tail stinger. Though a common prey for banshees, stingbats subsist on smaller prey such as rodent-sized animals, lizards, or fruits. However, swarms of stingbats have been known to attack larger animals if disturbed or threatened.

The Na’vi have been known to domesticate stingbats, despite their dangerous fangs and tail spines. They train stingbats to respond to their call, perching on shoulders or eating fruit from their hands. According to Tipani legend, one warrior was even saved by a swarm of stingbats who came to her aid in a struggle against the RDA — forming a bond with the creatures.
