The flightless great austrapede uses its wings for threat displays and territorial warnings and its long, piercing talons for hunting prey and battles with rivals. The species is used as a mount by Na’vi clans that share the great austrapede’s savannah home. It stands slightly taller than its smaller cousin, at 16 ft 6 in (5 m).
