The reef tick is a large, 2 ft (0.6 m) insect found in fresh water shallows and is relatively harmless. It has been studied that the creature shares a symbiotic relationship with the cephalopod-like creature the Sagitarria. In exchange for the cephalopods’ scraps of food, the reef tick will clean various shell cavities of the Sagitarria.
